Simon’s Cat Studio has named Panini Media as the worldwide distributor (excluding Japan, Russia and New Zealand) for all TV rights for its hit online animated series and viral phenomenon Simon’s Cat.

The series, created by English animator Simon Tofield, features tales of Simon’s always hungry cat and his humorous relationship with Tofield’s cartoon alter ego.

With NHK (Japan) and LA7 (Italy) already picking up 16 Simon’s Cat animated shorts, the latest deal adds to the expansion of the brand, which also has a growing consumer products program (tote bags, travel accessories, glassware, food storage, plush, giftware, homeware).

Since debuting online in 2007, the series has accumulated 234 million views on YouTube alone.
