Toronto, Canada’s Nelvana has snapped up Chorion’s interest in preschool property Max & Ruby in a deal that gives it worldwide TV production and licensing rights to the hit brand.
The Max & Ruby TV series, which airs on Nickelodeon in the US and Treehouse in Canada, is based on books by author/illustrator Rosemary Wells that have sold three million units worldwide to date. The brand also boasts DVDs and a recently wrapped North American live touring show.
Chorion, which began selling its assets last fall, now has just two properties left to sell—Gaspard & Lisa and Georges Simenon. Enid Blyton’s Noddy was recently offloaded to Classic Media.
