Munich, Germany-based prodco Studio 100 Media GmbH has inked a licensing deal with new Turkish kidsnet Minika for the 3D/2D animated children’s series Woodlies (26 x 24 minutes).
The deal sees Minika acquire free TV and VOD rights for the series for five years.
The environmentally-themed series, which is aimed at kids ages six to 11, is created by acclaimed children’s author Cornelia Funke (Inkheart, Dragon Rider) and features the adventures of furry and humorous creatures called Woodlies who work together to protect their forest home from humans they call Uglies.
Woodlies is produced by Woodlies Pty in association with Telegael Teoranta, Channel 7 (Australia) and ZDF (Germany).
Turkish media conglomerate Turkuvaz Media launched Minika in April last year and aims to be the leading kidsnet in the region through co-productions on top properties.
Woodlies was also just picked up by Seven Network (Australia) and will air on Saturdays from May 5 in the 10a.m. slot.
