Olympusat and Cookie Jar ink content deal

In a move to expand its business in the US and Latin America, US cable distributor Olympusat has secured a partnership with Toronto, Canada-based Cookie Jar Entertainment to carry its Spanish-language content on Olympusat's 24/7 Spanish-language kidsnet ¡Sorpresa! and have access to Cookie Jar's library of more than 6,000 titles.

In a move to expand its business in the US and Latin America, US cable distributor Olympusat has secured a partnership with Toronto, Canada-based Cookie Jar Entertainment to carry its Spanish-language content on Olympusat’s 24/7 Spanish-language kidsnet ¡Sorpresa! and have access to Cookie Jar’s library of more than 6,000 titles.

Olympusat, which focuses on the development of independent Hispanic, specialty, and faith and family TV networks, will now have access to hit kids series dubbed in Spanish including The Busy World of Richard Scarry and Mary Kate and Ashley: In Action (pictured).

¡Sorpresa! currently has 1.5 million subscribers and is carried by cable providers including Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Cox, and the NCTC in the US and Puerto Rico.

Hispanic networks owned and operated by Olympusat include Cine Mexicano, Gran Cine, LaTele Novela, ¡Sorpresa! and CubaPlay as well as specialty networks FUNimation Channel, Parables and Untamed Sports.

The latest deal comes shortly after Cookie Jar licensed its catalogue of animated content to Comcast Cable’s subscription video service Xfinity Streampix in the US.
