American Greetings Properties has greenlit production on 13 new episodes of its CG-animated, girl-skewing series Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Bitty Adventures.

The series follows the all-new adventures of Strawberry Shortcake and her six best friends, Blueberry Muffin, Raspberry Torte, Plum Pudding, Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue and Cherry Jam.

The latest season sees the iconic brand continue its run that began in 1980 with the original TV series and consumer products line including toys, videos, games, crafts and books. Five years after it launched, the IP racked up more than US$3.6 billion in global retail sales, selling 25 million small dolls sold.

Season two of the series currently airs daily on US kids cablenet The Hub.
