HarperCollins Children’s Books UK has secured a multi-book deal with English comedian, writer and actor David Walliams that includes new fiction titles and expansion into color books.
Publisher Ann-Janine Murtagh completed the deal, purchasing world rights from Paul Stevens at Independent Talent Group.
Walliams, most famous as the co-creator of BBC sketch-comedy show Little Britain, made his foray into the children’s book world in 2008 with The Boy in the Dress followed by Mr. Stink in 2009, Billionaire Boy in 2010, and Gangsta Granny in 2011, and has become the fastest growing children’s author in the UK market.
To date, more than 1.5 million copies of his books have been sold and translated in 25 languages worldwide.
