Toronto, Canada’s Nelvana Enterprises and The Clifford Ross Company are partnering with New York-based toy design company Yottoy Productions to develop a line of soft toys based on the classic Babar IP.

The initial launch will feature vintage plush designs based on the literary versions of King Babar and his wife, Celeste. Product is set to launch in the US this fall and continue to roll-out throughout 2013.

The second phase of the licensing program, built around new CGI older preschool series Babar and the Adventures of Badou, is also in the works.

To mark the character’s 80th anniversary, vintage Babar products will be a focus for holiday 2012.
