In a new deal with UK-based licensing agent Space Enterprises, educational toy designer LeapFrog has picked up the global license for The Hive Enterprises’ CG-animated preschool series The Hive.
Space Enterprises has also partnered with Avanquest, the largest publisher of children’s games in Europe, to bring The Hive to the iPhone and iPad mobile devices.
The LeapFrog deal will see three downloadable video apps, each containing five episodes of the series, reach the LeapPad learning tablet’s App Center and the Leapster Explorer console from June 19, 2012 in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and several countries in the Middle East & Asia.
For iOS devices, Avanquest is set to launch a suite of interactive games based on the hit series in the UK and other key territories on iTunes next month.
The new deals for digital expansion further add to the growing list of licensees on board for the property including master toy partner Mookie Toys (plush), Jupiter Toys (wooden toys and furniture), ITV (DVDs), EMI Publishing, Moonpig, Blues Clothing and Aykroyds TDP.
To date, the Monumental Productions, Lupus Films and DQ Entertainment produced- 78 x seven minute series is seen in more than 150 countries worldwide and has been a ratings success in the UK on Disney Junior and ITV, as well as internationally on Disney Junior, and in Australia on ABC.
