Kids horror TV series R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour and youth series Warrior Games have begun production in Vancouver, Canada.

Production has commenced on 13 more episodes of The Haunting Hour‘s third season, ordered by the series’ US broadcaster The Hub, while the 13-part Warrior Games is also shooting this month.

The Haunting Hour dominated the youth and children’s category in last month’s Leo Awards, nabbing prizes for best series, best direction and best performance, while series DOP Michael Balfry is up for an Emmy.

The series, which will shoot in Langley, B.C. to mid-September, is produced by Front Street Pictures, The Hatchery, Incendo Films and Endemol.

Harvey Khan and Kim Arnott are serving as producers with direction by Neill Fearnley, James Head and Ken Friss.

Warrior Games, which is shooting in Vancouver’s Mainland area near Harrison, New Westminster and North Vancouver in June, features the history and practice of indigenous sports of North and Central America.

Host and producer Steve Sxwithul’txw of the Penelakut Tribe of the Coast Salish Nation trains and plays a traditional sport in a new community in each episode, while also providing insight into the importance of athletics in Aboriginal culture.

After wrapping in Vancouver, the series will shoot in Mississippi in July, Ontario in August and Whitehorse in winter 2013.

Warrior Games, directed by April Butler, produced by Barry Gray and exec produced by Patti Poskitt, will be broadcast on ATPN in fall 2013.
