Global children’s TV channel KidsCo has commissioned a new short-form series with Aussie prodco Matchbox Pictures and acquired the rights to seasons one and two of the Matchbox Pictures’ hit drama My Place from the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF).

The currently untitled short-form series, which was developed in collaboration with Australian actress, comedian and writer Julie Eckersley, and the series creators, Troy and Zara Swindells-Grose, is set to bow internationally in early 2013 across all KidsCo territories.

KidsCo’s new acquisition will see the channel air seasons one and two of the 26 x 22-minute series My Place in the second half of 2012 across Eastern Europe and Asia.

The series tells the story of children who live in one place over 130 years.

KidsCo’s latest moves follow on the heels of new deals made across Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific that have helped the channel reach 15 million subscribers.
