Norwegian children’s prodco CreaCon Group has secured a multi-category Nordic licensing deal with Torger S. Iversen (TSI) for its preschool series City of Friends.
The deal will see Norway-based TSI manage the Nordic rights for a robust toy program that is expected to launch in fall 2013.
TSI joins an already burgeoning City of Friends licensing program in the Nordic region, which includes Scanditoy and MolliToys (scooters, puzzles, tents, plush).
CreaCon also recently inked a multi-year deal with Turner Broadcasting to air City of Friends across the Nordic region (Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark). Turner picked up season one and two of the 26 x 10-minute series and two 30-minute specials and will air the show from October 2012 on its kids channels Boomerang and Cartoon Network.
The series, which debuted in the Nordic countries in 2010, currently airs on TV2 (Norway), TV4 (Sweden), TV2 (Denmark) and MTV3 and Juniori (Finland). It is based on bedtime stories Norway state police officer Carl Christian Hamre created for his young son.
To date, City of Friends broadcasts in more than 180 countries worldwide in 22 languages and the IP now spans apps and live shows.
