Mattel is reporting a 4% increase of worldwide net sales as part of its third quarter highlights. The report also boasts North American gross sales are up by 6% as well as a 2% increase in international gross sales.
As for brand individual worldwide gross sales for core brands, Barbie saw a 4% decrease, Hot Wheels remained flat and American Girls shot up 16%. Though Barbie saw a decrease, worldwide gross sales for Other Girls Brands increased by 57%, primarily driven by Monster High. Fisher-Price increased by 6% over last year, which the company attributes to the addition of the HIT Entertainment portfolio and Disney’s Jake and the Neverland Pirates property to the Fisher-Price Friends line. Worldwide gross sales for the entertainment business, which also includes Radico and Games were down 18%, primarily driven by decreases in the Cars 2 movie property.
For the quarter, the company reported net income of US$365.9 million, compared to last year’s Q3 net income of US$300.8 million.
