And the Children’s BAFTAs go to…

Cartoon Network Europe's The Amazing World of Gumball, Astley Baker Davies' Peppa Pig and CBBC's Horrible Histories were all repeat winners as BAFTA handed out its 2012 Children's Awards last night at a gala ceremony in London.

Cartoon Network Europe’s The Amazing World of Gumball, Astley Baker Davies’ Peppa Pig and CBBC’s Horrible Histories were all repeat winners as BAFTA handed out its 2012 Children’s Awards last night at a gala ceremony in London.

For the third time, Peppa Pig took home Best Preschool Animation and for the third-consecutive year, Horrible Histories claimed the prize for comedy. The Amazing World of Gumball, meanwhile, won in the animation and writing categories for the second year in a row and Something Special‘s Justin Fletcher won the Presenter prize.

On the channel front, CBBC scored Channel of the Year (CBeebies claimed it last year), while Blue Zoo Productions got the nod as Independent Production Company of the Year.

Taking home the Performer award was 14-year-old rapper/actor Khalil Madovi who plays Josh Carter in CBBC’s 4 O’Clock Club and the Best Factual Programme BAFTA was My Life: Me, My Dad and His Kidney.

For interactive awards, Activision’s Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure won for Video Game.

Notably, Brian Cosgrove won a special prize recognizing his 40 years of program creation including the 1980s animated TV series Danger Mouse, and for the BAFTA Kids’ Vote competition, a record 593,674 votes were cast from seven- to 14 -year-olds in the UK. Their winning picks included The Smurfs (Feature Film), Good Luck Charlie (Television), Temple Run (Video Game) and Bin Weevils (Website).
