Boston developer Bare Tree Media has released a new photo app based on the lasagna-loving cat Garfield, and French-speaking SRC Radio Canada has snapped up the third season of CG-animated series The Garfield Show.

Bare Tree’s new Garfield Snaps virtual photo app, launched in partnership with Paws, is a free app for iOS devices that lets users embed the famous feline character into their favorite photos for sharing via email, Facebook and Twitter.

Bare Tree is also readying the app’s release for Android devices.

On the broadcasting side, the new deal, inked by the show’s French distributor Mediatoon, comes on the heels of The Garfield Show, a Garfield and Friends spinoff, selling to Cartoon Network US and  Japan last summer.

The hit series also airs on digital channel Boomerang in the UK and for the first time, Italy’s SKY 3D, in partnership with Turner, will broadcast two holiday The Garfield Show specials in 3D on December 25.
