Spain’s Imira Entertainment has appointed Planeta Junior as the L&M agent in France and French-speaking Europe for Kumis, a Japanese-inspired IP popular with teens.

The seven-year-old property, created by Spain’s La HabitaciĆ³n de Nekane, features four small geishas, a buddha and a ninja, each with a different look blending traditional and modern Japanese style with an emphasis on 60s style.

Kumis products including figurines, plush, bags, pencil cases and home-ware, as well as a special line for kids ages eight to 12, are currently distributed in more than 30 countries worldwide and are popular with tween and teen girls with more than 300,000 owning a Kumi article.

The characters have also been a hit on Facebook and have featured in TV and movies. Imira aims to take the brand into further product categories and new markets.
