DreamPlay Toys, the recently launched joint venture between Jakks Pacific and L.A.-based tech company NantWorks, has unveiled new interactive toys through an exclusive partnership with Disney Consumer Products.

The toys, which were unveiled at this week’s 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, incorporate NantWork’s innovative image recognition technology that recognizes images, 3D objects, voice, speech, data, and live video.

DreamPlay Toys and Jakks expect to launch the new product line in the US at major retailers for fall 2013 and internationally in 2014.

Using the technology, NantWorks will develop iOS and Android apps that enable users to point a DreamPlay toy or image at a smartphone or tablet screen to activate content and bring the toy to life.

Disney has exclusive rights to use the technology in the toy space along with select Jakks entertainment character IPs and brands, such as Monsuno.
