A new CGI series is in the works based on the graphic novel series The Deep: Here Be Dragons. Paris-based animation studio Technicolor Digital Productions will develop and produce 26 half-hour episodes of The Deep targeting tween viewers.
The Deep, created by Australian playwright and comic book writer Tom Taylor (Star Wars: Blood Ties, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight) and illustrator James Brouwer (Justice League Beyond), and published by Gestalt Comics, follows the adventures of a family of underwater explorers.
Since launching its original content development initiative in 2010, Technicolor has been working on Berkeley Breathed’s Pete & Pickles as well as Atomic Puppet, a co-production with Mercury Filmworks.
