Nicktoons is set to join sister networks Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. in Mexico starting next month. With the addition of the 24-hour animation channel, Nickelodeon will soon reach roughly 20 million TV households in the country.
Nicktoons, which will launch on Cablevision, Megacable and Cablemas, will air series such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Kung Fu Panda and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Meanwhile, Viacom International Media Networks Latin America has inked a series of free-to-air branded block deals with broadcasters for Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. content.
Brazilian free-to-air broadcaster Bandeirantes has closed a four-year branded block package that includes kids and teen animation and live action programming. Chilean broadcaster Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso (UCVTV) has also closed a two-year branded preschool block including Nick Jr. staples Dora The Explorer, Team Umizoomis and Bubble Guppies. El Salvador’s Canal 12 has closed a three-year branded block deal that includes Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob Squarepants, while Panama’s TVN-2 closed a three-year branded block deal that includes Big Time Rush, Fanboy and Chum Chum, Kung Fu Panda, Penguins of Madagascar, and Tuff Puppy.
