Activision has added a new piece to its ever-growing Skylanders franchise with the addition of a new video game entitled Swap Force and 16 new customizable physical characters.
The next installment in the US$500 million gaming and retail franchise, which combines virtual and physical toy play, is expected to debut this Fall. The main draw of Swap Force is the customization feature, as kids can mix and match the toys’ top and bottom halves to make up more than 250 different combinations. And, inevitably, these combinations can be brought to life in the actual video game. Players from previous Skylanders games (Spyro’s Adventure and Giants) can be used within the new Swap Force world as well. The physical toys for Swap Force will make their debut at next week’s Toy Fair in New York.
