Marvel Entertainment has launched a new collection of Spider-Man apparel that has been designed by and will be sold to the online artist community at US-based etailerĀ Threadless.com.

The community-designed apparel line, entitled Spider-Man vs. His Archenemies, includes 26 t-shirts that depict the superhero clashing with villains like Dock Ock and the Green Goblin.

To create the collection, artists from around the world were invited to reinterpret the battle between Spider-Man and his enemies and had three weeks to submit their original designs. The Threadless global community of 2.2 million then voted on the 1,100 submissions to determine which designs would be printed on t-shirts.

The Spider-Man apparel collection marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between Marvel and Threadless. The Threadless community of artists will be given the opportunity to interpret more of Marvel’s characters, with an Iron Man collection already slated for later this year and more design challenges scheduled throughout 2013.
