It looks like the stars are aligning a little differently for Star Wars animated programming following Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm this past October. In pursuing new programming opportunities for the brand, the House of Mouse has cancelled the Cartoon Network series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has postponed Star Wars Detours.

The former has had a five-season run on the Time Warner-owned network. The release of comedy series Star Wars Detours from Robot Chicken creators Seth Green, Matthew Senreich and Todd Grimes, which was announced last year, has been postponed indefinitely.

“We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming,” reads an announcement on the official Star Wars website. “Detours was conceived and produced before we decided to move forward with the new Star Wars trilogy, and in the wake of that decision, Lucasfilm has reconsidered whether launching an animated comedy prior to the launch of Episode VII makes sense.”

The news has since triggered an Internet guessing game over what other changes will be made to Lucasfilm properties – including gaming titles – in light of the upcoming Star Wars trilogy films.
