Pirates and preschoolers star in new CBeebies commissions

A physical game show called Swashbuckle and a series about starting school, aptly entitled Time for School, are among the new commissions made by BBC Children's channel CBeebies.

A physical game show called Swashbuckle and a series about starting school, aptly entitled Time for School, are among the new commissions made by BBC Children’s channel CBeebies. Also returning to the channel are Gigglebiz and Nina And The Neurons with an eighth series called Earth Explorers, which focuses on Earth science.

Swashbuckle is a new 25 x 19-minute pirate-themed game show presented by former CBBC presenter Gemma Hunt, who will to keep the naughty pirates Cook, Line and Captain Sinker in order. All of the games in the show are designed to incorporate physical development goals.The series will be recording in April for a launch this summer on CBeebies.

Preschool series Time for School (40 x 11 minutes) is a documentary-style series following the ups and downs of real children as they start school. Time for School will begin filming in the fall at two UK schools and will air on CBeebies in winter 2014. The series is a Sixth Sense Media production for CBeebies.

Comedy sketch show Gigglebiz will return for a third season this fall, while Nina And The Neurons: Earth Explorers will return for its eighth season also in the fall.
