Fans of the social gaming site Stardoll – and there are more than 200 million of them worldwide – have been privy to some interesting publishing tie-ins, the latest of which comes from children’s graphic novel publisher Papercutz.
Stardoll has inked a deal with Papercutz, which creates children’s graphic novels featuring such characters as The Smurfs, Geronimo Stilton and Nancy Drew, to publish an ongoing series of books featuring five best friends trying to make it in the fashion world.
Papercutz tapped comics illustrator and designer JayJay Jackson to tell the story, which mixes teen high school drama with mysterious paranormal elements. The five girls at the center of the series have unique secret powers that counterpoint their latent creative talents.
Secrets &Dreams, the first full-color 64-page graphic novel, will debut in September, followed by The Secret of the Star Jewel in December. The tween-targeted series will continue with four new volumes each year.
