Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner is heading into the animated superheroes business with the help of Corus Entertainment-owned Nelvana.

Nelvana Enterprises and The Topps Company, the trading cards manufacturer acquired by Eisner’s Tornante Co. in 2007, will develop a boys action series called Mysticons.

The 26 x half-hour animated series for kids ages six to 11 will be produced by Nelvana Studio and written by Sean Jara.

“We are thrilled to work with Corus Entertainment, a globally renowned children’s broadcaster and producer,” said Eisner in a Monday statement timed to coincide with the start of MIPTV in Cannes.

The multiplatform series stars four regular kids who are called on to double as superheroes known as Mysticons.
