On the heels of expanding its regional reach to 5.6 million, Disney Junior UK is heading into HD on satellite service Sky.

Disney Junior, which launched in May 2011, is currently the number-one pay-TV preschool channel in the UK. And its HD version joins Disney Channel HD and Disney XD HD, which are already on the satellite service.

The move to HD comes just as the channel’s new animated series Henry Hugglemonster drew roughly 620,000 viewers during its February premiere weekend. And Disney’s first Princesses animated TV series, Sofia the First, recently ranked as the most successful launch of all time for the channel, reaching more than a million viewers on its debut weekend.

New eps of the two series will air on Disney Junior HD, which will also feature high-definition versions of live-action and animated series such as Jake And The Never Land Pirates, Doc McStuffins, Art Attack and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
