Singapore-based factual entertainment producer Beach House Pictures is making its foray into children’s television with the new series Kids Vs Film for Discovery Kids Asia.

The live-action 12 x 30-minute series will premiere in June and will headline Asia’s Discovery Kids channel. It follows 48 Asian tweens who are tasked with becoming first-time filmmakers under the careful tutelage of professional production experts. Each episode sees two teams made up of two kids, guided by hosts Oli Pettigrew and Mohini Sule, compete against each other to research, write, direct, shoot and edit their own Discovery-style two minute documentary. Their final creations will face off on the big screen and will be judged by an audience comprised of their peers.

Kids Vs Film has its roots in Discovery Channel’s signature First Time Filmmakers, which targets creative professionals in the documentary industry and is produced by Beach House. The company says adapting the show for a younger audience meant having to consider shorter attention spans and different codes of conduct.
