L.A.-based post-production service provider SDI Media has named Doug Roberts as VP and GM of Access Services, following an increased demand for live and offline closed captioning and subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, as well as audio description services.

Roberts will be responsible for strengthening SDI’s access services team and infrastructure and ensuring multi-lingual access services are delivered to broadcasters, cable-casters, studios, and internet-content providers.

By focusing on access services, SDI will look to complement its existing end-to-end localization offering. The company currently has the world’s largest network of owned and operated facilities providing dubbing, subtitling, and other media localization services in 33 countries.

Roberts has spent more than two decades in the captioning, transcription, subtitling and video post-production industry. Most recently he was president of The DRBC Group and has been working with SDI as a consultant.
