As Turner-owned LazyTown settles into its third TV season, the health and wellness show has been picked up by more global broadcasters.
Thirteen half-hour episodes will air on Turner’s Cartoonito channel in available European markets in the coming months. The new season debuted in the UK last month and introduces a new cast member, 11-year-old American dancer Chloe Lang in the role of Stephanie.
Sales for the new series are ongoing and the show has already been sold to more than 100 territories, including SRTL in Germany and ORF in Austria. A syndication deal has also been signed with Star in Greece, Nelonen in Finland, and Okto in Singapore.
In North America, the third season will debut in the US on Sprout on May 27 and this fall on NBC Kids. Yoopa in Canada, meanwhile, has secured the license for the new series in French-speaking Canada. Free-to-air channel ABC in Australia has secured the rights for the new series, as well as the renewal for seasons one and two.
The new season is being supported by a licensing and merchandising rollout, health-related promotional campaigns and online games.
The LazyTown brand, which sold to Turner in 2011 for an estimated price tag of US$19 million, was recently greenlit for a fourth season that is expected to debut in 2014.
