Aardman Animations’ digital arm has created an online home for Middle Eastern-based comic book brand and TV series THE 99.
The kids’ fansite from Aardman Digital houses videos, single and multi-player games, a character guide and free downloadable content. THE 99 site will be updated monthly and will eventually be a bilingual brand site with social networking features.
THE 99‘s superheroes are based on Middle Eastern principles and Islamic archetypes and star in monthly comic books from Teshkeel Comics.
THE 99 animated series recently launched on Cartoon Network’s Toonami, the broadcaster’s satellite channel that airs in 24 countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China and Fiji. Initially, the series will broadcast in English, Thai and Mandarin with other languages to follow.
