Hasbro and Tokyo-based social gaming developer DeNA are furthering their partnership by collaborating on two free-to-play mobile games tied to the G.I. Joe and Dungeons & Dragons brands.

Based on the classic toon, G.I. Joe: Battleground lets players lead and assemble teams of G.I. Joe heroes and that battle various villains. Arena of War, based on Hasbro subsidiary Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons and Dragons brand, is a role-playing game that features in-game events and massive multiplayer competitions

The games are being developed and published by DeNA and will be housed on the company’s Mobage mobile social gaming platform later this year for Android, iPhone and iPad devices. The company says the games are being designed to appeal to dedicated fans of the franchises as well as to the cohorts of casual gamers.

DeNA and Hasbro previously teamed on a mobile game based on the Transformers franchise called Transformers: Legends.
