Last year, more than 1.1 million Masha and The Bear DVDs were sold in Russia, coming in just behind Avatar. Russia’s Animaccord Animation Studios has now scored European DVD deals with Sony Music and Nordisk Film for the brand.

Sony Music has acquired the rights to distribute 26 fully dubbed episodes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Alto-Adige and the German-speaking part of Luxembourg. The DVD collection will complement broadcasting of the series on KiKa.

Nordisk Film will launch three DVDs beginning with a box-set featuring the first season in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

With 33 episodes developed, and a plan to produce 52 by 2014, the series has been steadily accumulating a list broadcasting, DVD and licensing partners.
