New York-based developer Cupcake Digital has forged a partnership with Canada’s Nelvana Enterprises and the Clifford Ross Company to develop the first-ever enhanced storybook apps based on the popular animated kids TV series Babar and the Adventures of Badou.

The mobile apps will feature engaging storytelling combined with educational elements and are set to be released this fall across the iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and NOOK Apps stores.

Additional highlights will include three different modes of reading, professional narration, text highlighting that promotes early reading skills, coloring pages, sing-along videos, educator-approved games and a grown-up’s corner designed to encourage shared screen time.

Babar and the Adventures of Badou currently airs on Disney Junior (US, Spain, Italy and Japan), Corus Entertainment’s Treehouse (Canada), TF1 (France), Ki.Ka (Germany) and Canal Panda (Portugal) and across additional channels in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America.

The latest digital venture for Cupcake follows closely on the heels of its introduction of new apps based on American Greetings’ Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Bitty Adventures TV series.
