Furthering its ongoing tug of war for kids content with Amazon, Netflix has extended its programming partnership with PBS in the US and Canada.
Launching this fall, the new expanded multi-year licensing deal with PBS Distribution will bring the acclaimed PBS Kids preschool series Super Why! exclusively to Netflix for 2014 along with additional kids series including Wild Kratts, Caillou and Arthur.
The deal comes just a week after Amazon expanded its own pact with PBS for its Prime Instant Video service. Many of the same shows (Caillou, Arthur) nabbed by Netflix were included in Amazon’s PBS agreement.
In another exclusive deal , Netflix recently acquired the new original spin-off series Mako Mermaids from Australia’s Jonathan M. Shiff Productions.
