Fans of Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man will get to see the masked web-slinger join The Avengers, thanks to a third season pick up by Disney XD for the hit animated series on its Marvel Universe programming block.

The new cross-over season sees Spidey team up with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk from Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, which made its Disney XD debut on July 7. New characters Cloak & Dagger, Amadeus Cho, and Ka-Zar will be unveiled throughout season three along with the animated debut of Agent Venom.

Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man is co-executive produced by Stan Lee and has been a ratings success for Disney XD since it premiered in April 2012.

The boy-skewing series is Disney XD’s top-ranked animated series in total viewers (605,000) this year to date and follows the adventures of Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Drake Bell) after he joins S.H.I.E.L.D.’s exclusive training program with four other teens.

An extensive consumer products program based on the series has also been rolling out since season two debuted in January. Hasbro, Lego and Street Flyers are a few of the program’s more than 200 licensees.
