Introducing Databoard – But will Google kill it?

I’m a little bitter at Google since they shut down Google Reader. I’m fearful to fall in love with any new product they develop because they’ll probably just can it in the future. I sound like a bitter ex-girlfriend.

So,I’m cautiously sharing with you their latest release, Databoard. Why? Because it has potential.

If you like to back up your presentations with juicy facts and not have to spend loads of time researching and quantifying, this product could help. Using its access to seemingly unlimited data, Google created Databoard to be a simple way to find data points and create infographics to visually explain your digital decisions.

Best of all, it’s user friendly. I just created this infographic on the Databoard site and it took me all of two minutes.

Keep in mind the data is based on their user data, so you likely won’t find kid-specific info here, but it’s a great way to help trigger ideas on digitizing your next project or IP, or finding creative inspiration within the data points. I hope this product receives some traction as I’d like to see Google expand it with additional research studies that can help our industry even more.

So, should I open my heart to Google again? Maybe. I’m cautiously optimistic.
