In a new partnership with Mattel, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has signed on to distribute new video game Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver globally; it launches September 17.

From indie developer Firebrand Games (Cars 2, Need For Speed), Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver lets players join a number of different Hot Wheels teams, each with a unique driving style (speed, stunts, precision, jumps).

The game features 24 iconic vehicles for use in dozens of replayable challenges and tests around the world and is based on real-life Team Hot Wheels record-breaking stunt team that drives life-size Hot Wheels cars.

Team Hot Wheels has set three world records in 18 months and a 22-minute World’s Best Driver movie is now viewable on Mattel’s Hot Wheels YouTube channel and at HotWheels.com.

The new game launches on the heels of a 6% Q2 sales decline in Mattel’s Wheels category, which includes the Hot Wheels, Matchbox and Tyco R/C brands.

Hot Wheels World’s Best Driver will be available for Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii U at US$39.99, and for Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC at US$29.99.
