Belgium-headquartered Studio 100 has sold its new CG-animated series Maya the Bee (78 x 13 minutes) to CT:D, a new kids’ channel operated by CTV in the Czech Republic.
Set to launch on September 2, 2013, the comedy-adventure series for kids ages two to six will air in primetime at 5:05 p.m. during the popular live-action/puppet kids series Kouzelna skolka and rerun at 8:35 a.m.
The latest acquisition expands Maya’s flight to screens across the world which now includes sales in 134 countries.
Based on the original 2D Maya the Bee series that launched in 1975 and continues to air in 120 countries, the reborn series from Studio 100 Animation, in association with ZDF and TF1, is also being supported by a growing licensing and merchandising program.
Licensees launching consumer products in the Czech Republic in September include Studio 100 (plush and cushions, a memo game, bath toys, placemats, stamp sets, ironing beads, Presco Group (calendars), Dairy4Fun (dessert food products) and Associated Weavers (rugs).
The brand to date has accumulated more than 300 licensees worldwide and a Maya the Bee stereoscopic 3D feature film will also be premiering globally in 2014.
