Amazon’s UK-based video streaming LOVEFiLM has added hundreds of hours of content from Viacom-owned channels Comedy Central, MTV, Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon.
The deal with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) will send such popular shows to the LOVEFiLM Instant streaming service as Dora the Explorer, Blue’s Clues, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Hills.
The shows will be greeted with an ever-growing list of children’s content, as earlier this month LOVEFiLM struck a licensing deal with NBCUniversal for a range of classic and modern children’s titles. In June, LOVEFiLM inked a similar on-demand partnership with Disney.
Over in the US, Amazon already secured an expanded multi-year, multi-national licensing deal with Viacom this past June that sent a raft of kids shows including Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Blue’s Clues and The Backyardigans to Amazon Prime Instant Video customers across mobile devices and internet-connected TVs and consoles. That deal came a little more than a month after Netflix let its long-standing deal with Viacom expire.
