Michael Fukushima has been named executive producer of the Canadian National Film Board’s Montreal-based animation studio.
Fukushima, a veteran filmmaker who joined the NFB in 1990 and became an animation producer seven years later, will head up the English program animation studio.
“I have high regard for Michael’s considerable experience, his expert reflections on our animation history and his thoughtful, progressive ideas for the future,” said NFB English program director general Ravida Din in a statement Tuesday.
Fukushima’s NFB producer credits include Patrick Doyon’s Sunday/Dimanche, Koji Yamamura’s Muybridge’s Strings/Les cordes de Muybridge and Ann Marie Fleming’s I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors.
