Disney Channel has picked up Cher Ami, an animated feature film for families, from Spanish producer and distributor Imira Entertainment for broadcast across several Asian territories.

The 82-minute film produced by Accio in Spain will head to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and China for television, web and mobile viewing.

Set in France during World War One and inspired by a true story, Cher Ami follows the heroic adventures of a group of regular farm-dwelling pigeons who become messenger pigeons to help protect their peaceful forest neighborhood from the threat of war. In the process, they also attempt to save the lives of a battalion of American soldiers.

The deals come as Imira heads to this week’s Asian Television Forum looking to make further inroads in Asia with its kids’ properties including 52 x 12-minute Asian-influenced animated series Mondo Yan, which recently received investment support from Luxembourg-based GD Entertainment Fund.
