Bristol, England-based Wildseed Studios has announced an investment (terms not disclosed) from the commercial arm of Welsh broadcaster S4C, giving it a significant stake in the company and a seat on its board.

Wildseed Studios is a content and talent incubator commissioning content from both new creators and established ones interested in working to create content for all platforms

The deal also gives S4C the opportunity to co-produce with Wildseed on selected projects and the rights to dub content into the Welsh language for broadcast on the channel.

Wildseed is holding a “Meet Wildseed Studios” event at Porter’s in Cardiff at 7 p.m. on  January 22 to network with the creative community in Wales and to explain the “Wildseed Way” to interested parties. (Details for the event can be found here.)

S4C Commerical is the commerical arm of Welsh language television channel S4C. As a public service broadcaster, S4C commissions independent production companies in Wales to make the majority of its programs, and BBC Wales produces around 10 hours a week of programming for the channel, too.

Wildseed Studios is looking for ideas in four genres: genre fiction (Sci-Fi/horror/fantasy), animated sitcom, character comedy and then also comedy for kids six to 11 in both live action and animation.

Original ideas can be submitted to Wildseed here.
