YTV, the Corus Entertainment-owned kidsnet, was the number-one network for kids and families in Canada in December, thanks to its successful Merry 6mas promotion, featuring a lineup of quality festive content primed for the co-view audience.
According to BBM Canada TV Meter, YTV was number-one with kids two to 11 and six to 11 across all networks from December 1 to December 26, and was the highest rated Canadian specialty network for the same period with women 18 to 49.
Its Merry 6mas December promotion, which kicked off every day at 6 p.m., featured movie premiers, marathons and classic animated and stop-motion specials including A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (pictured) and Frosty the Snowman.
The promo reached moms and kids across radio, digital, TV and print highlighted by special calendar inserts in daily newspapers featuring augmented reality trailers.
The kidsnet expects the momentum from its holiday ratings success will help boost YTV’s January premiers including the January 6 debut of live-action series Some Assembly Required (6:30 p.m. ET/PT) and the January 7 launch of animated comedy series Numb Chucks (4:30 p.m. ET/PT).
