With 4K content picking up presence in the living room, M-Go, the new video rental service from DreamWorks Animation and Technicolor, has launched a 4K streaming portal that will debut on Samsung Ultra HD TVs this spring.
Touted as the most advanced in high-definition video, 4K uses four times as many pixels as regular HD content. M-Go will launch its comprehensive 4K service with a selection of full-length Hollywood movies and network TV shows that will be made available to consumers when they are released digitally. The pay-as-you-go service has content licensing agreements in place with such heavy hitters as 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, and, most recently, Disney.
M-GO relies on integration with its joint-venture partner Technicolor to leverage its 4K mastering and restoration expertise. For content not authored or post-produced in 4K, Technicolor and M-GO’s 4K Optimized solution will leverage the source files from its licensed content partners and reprocesse them to enhance the visual crispness, color acuity and image depth for 4K television owners.
The service is making its introduction this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
