Zodiak Kids has named francetv distribution as the licensing agent in France and French-speaking territories for its new girl-skewing animated series Lolirock.

The 52 x 26-minute musical series aimed at five- to 10-year-old girls, co-produced by Zodiak Kids’ Paris-based subsidiary Marathon Media, France Télévisions and Disney Channel, is expected to launch at the end of 2014 on France 3.

Lolirock follows the story of a spirited young girl named Isis who becomes the third member of all-girl band Lolirock. The new trio soon discovers that they are bound together as magical princesses.

The new appointment comes after Hachette Jeunesse (novels, activity books, eBooks, stationery) and francetv Distribution (home video) signed on as licensees for the property at BLE last October.

As part of Zodiak Kids’ 360-degree multiplatform strategy, five animated Lolirock videos will launch across social media and YouTube before the debut of the series and Zodiak plans to introduce a blog and a free app featuring songs, dance routines and karaoke. A live show produced by francetv distribution is also being negotiated.

Zodiak Kids CP Paris manages the worldwide licensing rights for Lolirock while Zodiak Kids handles TV distribution rights.
