Disney Channel is donning a new channel logo and overall new on-air branding look that rolls out today in the US before hitting each of its 42 global channels throughout this year.

From an EMEA perspective, the new branding was first unveiled in support of the move of Disney Channel Germany from pay-TV to free-to-air earlier this year.

The new logo is a combination of founder Walt Disney’s signature and the three-circle shape evocative of Mickey Mouse.

All interstitial programming, identification spots and programming menus will feature the new logo and style. The company says the new branding was a global collaboration between Disney Channel worldwide and European teams and is especially designed so that it can be customized based on local storytelling

The channel will also showcase new idents, which reveal short snapshots that together tell a story about Disney Channel viewers.

In other Mouse House news, Disney XD has commissioned a second season of live-action comedy Mighty Med, which is slated to  premiere this fall.
