Entertainment One has acquired rival Canadian distributor Phase 4 Films to bolster its US film division, and the deal encompasses Phase 4’s kaboom! Entertainment kids and family label.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As part of the deal, Phase 4 president and CEO Berry Meyerowitz (pictured) becomes president of eOne’s US film and distribution business, a move that comes a month after eOne North American Films president David Reckziegel left the company.
The acquisition aims to bolster eOne’s VOD, digital and home entertainment presence in the US market, and allow the Canadian distributor to better penetrate the American market with platform releases for its film titles.
Meyerowitz launched Toronto-based Phase 4 in 2009.
