New episodes, an exclusive BFI screening, a DVD and new consumer product launches, as well as additional promotions, are on the way this summer for London-based Karrot Entertainment’s hit CBeebies preschool series Sarah & Duck.
For broadcast, new episodes of the 2D-animated series will air on CBeebies in August and feature Cloud Captain, a brand new character voiced by children’s TV icon Derek Griffiths (Little Red Tractor), Roger Allam (The Thick of It) and Lesley Nicol (Downtown Abbey).
Griffiths himself will present a preview of his episode, Cloud Tower, on Sunday, July 13 at a special BFI screening marking 60 years of the best BBC children’s characters.
Accompanying the new eps on the channel will be a Sarah & Duck-themed week highlighted by popular episodes and new games and activities on the CBeebies’ website.
Across consumer products, Carousel Calendars is launching a new Sarah & Duck 16-month planner on August 1, a new DVD from BBC Worldwide will be released on September 8, and small and large plush toys from Posh Paws International are now available on shelves at UK giants Tesco, Sainsbury’s and other major retailers.
Since its debut in 2013, the series featuring the daily childhood experiences of seven-year-old Sarah and her best friend Duck has been a regular top-10 performer on CBeebies and among broadcast’s top-10 programs for viewers four to 15.
Sarah & Duck currently airs in more than 80 countries including on CBeebies’ international channels, Sprout (US), ABC (Australia), Canal+ (France) and NHK (Japan).
It’s also premiering on KiKa in Germany and Disney Junior in Canada this month.
