In step with the customizable bookshelf trend, Disney Publishing has released a brand new digital library for kids and families called Disney Story Central.

The cross-platform experience is now available as a free iPad app with in-app purchases and is accessible via a tablet-optimized website.

Among the highlights of the reading experience are 150 read-along books featuring a variety of popular Disney characters and stories from Disney’s deep portfolio of properties (Frozen, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Cars, Monsters University, Mickey Mouse, Disney Princess), personalized book recommendations, rewards for reading progress, four free books on sign-up, fully customizable bookshelves for every family member, trophies, a browse-by-character option and new titles added weekly.

To purchase new titles, parents can buy tokens through the app and website that can then be given to kids to unlock new books.

The launch comes on the heels of Disney Publishing’s release of its Star Wars Scene Maker customization iPad apps.
