In a deal with the Walt Disney Company, French broadcaster TF1 Group has secured the TV rights for upcoming movies from Marvel Studios, as well as existing and upcoming Star Wars films.

Set to go across all TF1 channels, the agreement includes the free TV rights for Marvel’s upcoming live-action TV series. In addition, the deal gives TF1 the rights for new distribution platforms and devices.

The news comes as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has become the summer’s top-grossing US release, with US$251.9 million in domestic sales as of this weekend. It follows in the wake of Marvel’s other blockbuster hit of 2014 Captain America: Winter Soldier which grossed US$259.8 million at the US box office.

TF1 will air the upcoming releases from the lucrative properties, including Star Wars: Episode VII and Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
