In a deal that strengthens its presence across the MENA region, UK-based Zodiak Kids has sold more than 75 hours of programming to Qatar-based Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC) to air across its Arabic preschool channel Baraem TV and kids media platform JeemTV.
The deal sees JCC pick up broadcast rights to The Ranch (26 x 26 minutes) and the third seasons of Rekkit Rabbit (26 x 11 minutes) and Horrid Henry (52 x 11 minutes).
It has also renewed Monster Buster Club (45 x 26 minutes) and seasons two and three of Escape from Scorpion Island (60 x half hours).
JeemTV launched in April last year and targets Arabian children ages seven to 12 and their families. Baraem TV, meanwhile, launched in 2009 and is the first dedicated free-to-air preschool channel in the Arab world. It expanded its reach in 2012 to Europe and North Africa with the launch of Baraem Europe.
Zodiak’s JCC deal comes on the heels of free-TV children’s edutainment channel MENA-based MBC3 picking up 150 hours of programming from Zodiak Kids in July.
